Anthurium, "Big Red Bird"
Anthurium, "Big Red Bird"
Anthuriums are a symbol of hospitality and can be found all over the island. There are over 1,000 types of anthurium flowers. The ‘Big Red Bird’ has long, lance-shaped leaves that emerge green and turn red in bright light or cool temperatures. The foliage features a slight wave on the edges of the leaf. The ‘Big Red Bird’ Anthurium is a type of Pachyneurium. The ‘Birds Nest Anthuriums’ grow in a rosette pattern and the emerging leaves roll inward towards the central leaf. When in bright light, the central leaf vein is red, like its leaves.
☀☀ Light :
Prefers low to bright indirect light. The plant is unable to withstand direct light and it can hurt your flowers.
Water :
Prefers dry soil. Allow the soil to dry out before watering again.
+ Plant Tip :
Anthuriums do not need to be heavily fertilized, and do not need a powerful fertilizer. It’s recommended to use a one quarter strength fertilizer once every 3 to 4 months, except during the colder months. Use a fertilizer with higher phosphorus number in order to get stunning flowers.
