Pulelehua pin

Enamel pin of the rare Kamehameha butterfly, also known as pulelehua. Perfect for adding a pop of color to any outfit. Pulelehua are key pollinators for many native Hawaiian plants. As pulelehua flutter from flower to flower to sip nectar, they spread pollen between plants. Though not yet listed as endangered, pulelehua have been disappearing from their native habitats. Forest restoration is a critical component in aiding pulelehua survival. Pulelehua caterpillars have a very particular diet-- they love to snack on the leaves of native plants in the nettle family, like māmaki and ōpuhe.
