Platycerium bifurcatum ʻStaghorn Fernʻ

Staghorn Ferns closely resemble deer or elk antlers, hence their unusual name. These plants are part of the Polypodiaceae family—they are slow growers, but grow to be large in size once they fully mature. These ferns are epiphytic, which means they can grow mounted on plaques or other substrates. They have two distinct leaf forms—small, flat leaves that cover the root ball structure; and green, pronged antler fronds that emerge from this base and can reach up to three feet in length indoors.

Thrives in bright indirect light.

Allow to dry some between waterings. Staghorn ferns are fairly drought tolerant and prone to rot if overwatered. 

To clean the leaves without damaging their protective felt-like surface, lightly mist occasionally and shake off excess water.
